The notes on screen do not match my ROLI or LUMI piano keys
Pressing a key lights a different one on screen? Your ROLI or LUMI piano is on another octave. How to realign it.
Octave buttons
The octave buttons on the keyboard shift all its notes up or down. The app then sees different notes than expected.
Recalibrate
In DOLI PIANO, open the MIDI menu and choose to recalibrate, then press the key shown. The screen lines up with your keyboard again.
Keep the same octave
Once calibrated, avoid pressing the octave buttons during a song.
Why it happens
Your keyboard has 24 keys, but MIDI can describe more than 120 notes. The octave buttons choose which part of that range your keys send. The app needs to know which octave is active to place the notes in front of the right keys. If the octave changes after calibration, everything on screen looks shifted by twelve keys.
How calibration works in DOLI PIANO
The first time you connect, the app asks you to press a specific key. From that single note it knows which octave your keyboard is on and lines up the 24 keys on screen with your physical keys. You can do it again at any time from the MIDI menu, for example after pressing the octave buttons.
If keys are shifted by less than an octave
Make sure the keyboard is not transposed, which shifts notes by a few keys instead of a full octave. Reset it to the default setting with the keyboard's own controls, then recalibrate.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the screen show a different key than the one I press?
The keyboard's octave was changed. Recalibrate from the MIDI menu.
How do I reset the octave on my LUMI Keys?
Use the octave buttons to come back to the middle position, then recalibrate in the app.
Do I have to calibrate every time?
No. The app remembers it. Only recalibrate if you change the octave.
