Chrome shows no MIDI device for your ROLI or LUMI piano? Check the MIDI permission, the cable and other apps. Step-by-step fixes.

Allow MIDI access

When a site asks to use your MIDI devices, click Allow. If you refused once, click the icon left of the address bar, open Site settings and set MIDI devices to Allow, then reload the page.

Use a data cable

Some USB-C cables only charge. If the piano charges but is never detected, try another cable, ideally the original one.

Close other music apps

On Windows especially, an app like a DAW can keep the keyboard busy. Close it and reload the page.

Use Chrome or Edge

Safari does not support Web MIDI, and Firefox support is limited. Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Mac or Windows.

Check that the computer sees the keyboard

On a Mac, open Audio MIDI Setup and choose Window then Show MIDI Studio: your keyboard should appear there, not greyed out. On Windows, open Device Manager and look under Sound, video and game controllers or Software devices. If the computer itself does not see the keyboard, the problem is the cable, the port or the keyboard's battery, not Chrome.

Reset the MIDI permission

Chrome remembers your choice for each site. Click the icon to the left of the web address, open Site settings, find MIDI devices and set it to Allow. Close every tab of the site, open it again and press Connect. If you use several Chrome profiles, check you are in the one where you allowed access.

Other things to try

Plug the cable directly into the computer instead of a hub. Turn the keyboard off and on again. Restart Chrome completely, not just the tab. Update Chrome. On a company-managed computer, MIDI access may be blocked by an administrator policy.
